  • Evelynne Blatt
    It is with great pride that EASFAA recognizes Evelynne Blatt of Raritan Valley Community College and a member of the New Jersey Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NJASFAA) as EASFAA Co-Volunteer of the Month for February.

    Evelynne is the Director of Financial Aid at Raritan Valley Community College where she has worked for the past five years. She had previously worked at Boston University. Evelynne has a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from Boston University and a Master's in Higher Education Administration from NYU.

    She been actively involved in NJASFAA since moving to New Jersey as a member, Chair of the Sunshine Committee, Secretary and now as NJASFAA Treasurer. Evelynne has also assisted with College Goal Sunday for the past two years. This past year she was a trainer in the EASFAA Region for NASFAA.

    NJASFAA representative to EASFAA Helen Mikulak who had the pleasure as President of NJASFAA last year to present Evelynne with the "Young Leader Award" said "she loves financial aid and NJASFAA and looks forward to serving her financial aid community in many new ways in the future. She has been a welcome addition to New Jersey."

  • Gina Soliz
    EASFAA is proud to recognize Gina Soliz, Director of Financial Aid at Syracuse University School of Law and a member of the New York State Financial Aid Administrator's Association as EASFAA Regional Co-Volunteer of the Month for February.

    Gina attended Syracuse University where she received both a Bachelor's and Master's Degree. While attending graduate school, she worked as graduate assistant in the Syracuse University Financial Aid Office. She began her "professional" her financial aid career at Nichols College in Massachusetts. She subsequently moved to Lemoyne College in New York and for the past eight years has been the Director at Syracuse University's College of Law.

    The list of Gina's activities' in NYSFAAA is endless. She has been very active in NYSFAAA Region 3 which says a lot because this region is one of the most active in the state. Currently she serves as Region 3 Executive Councilperson, on the Strategic Long Range Planning committee and the Annual Conference for 2008 committee. NYSFAAA President Heater McDonnell stated that Gina "is a thoughtful and proactive member of the Executive Council and her observations and comments are always on the mark."

    EASFAA President Bill Cheetham takes special pride in congratulating Gina since she worked for him at Lemoyne College. Please join Bill and the rest of EASFAA on congratulating GINA and we look forward to her future participation in EASFAA.

  • Ken Stover
    Ken Stover of John & Wales University has been chosen as the EASFAA Regional Co-Volunteer for the Month of December.

    Ken began his career in financial aid as a Financial Aid Officer for Johnson & Wales University’s Providence campus in 2004. Ken was promoted to Grant & Scholarship Coordinator for the university in 2006 where he now manages the endowment and university scholarships as well as the state grant programs.

    Ken is an active member of Rhode Island Association of Financial Aid Administrators (RIASFAA) and currently holds the position of President-Elect of RIASFAA’s Executive Board. He is currently serving on the College Goal Sunday RI Committee and has been active in RIASFAA’s upcoming website overhaul. In the past he has also volunteered for RI’s College Aid Sunday as well as conference planning committees. This past year Ken attended the NASFAA Leadership Conference as RI’s representative.

    He received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland in 2003. In 2007, he completed his M.B.A. at Johnson & Wales University. He currently resides in Johnston with his wife, Amy.

    The EASFAA Community congratulates Ken on his selection and we look forward to his increasing involvement in EASFAA.

  • Pam Chisholm
    Pam Chisholm, Director of Financial Aid for the Community College of Vermont and a member of the Vermont Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators has been chosen as the EASFAA Regional Co-Volunteer for the Month of November.

    Pam began her career in financial aid in 1975 as the college work study student in the financial aid office of Bowdoin College, where she was fortunate to work with and learn from Walter Moulton, who was Director of Financial Aid at Bowdoin for many years.    After graduating in 1978, she stayed on for one more year at Bowdoin in financial aid and admissions before entering graduate school in 1979.

    As the end of grad school approached and she realized her student loans would be coming do soon, she started her job search and began working in the grant program at the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC) from 1981-1989, first as a grant counselor and than as Assistant Director. In 1989 she became Director of Financial Aid at Trinity College of Vermont, a small private college with both a traditional and non-traditional student population.  In 1996, she returned to VSAC as Assistant Director for Compliance and School Services.  In May of 2002, she became the Director of Financial Aid for the Community College of Vermont, which serves over 8000 students annually at 13 different sites throughout Vermont.

    Pam’s dedication to the Financial Aid field has been lengthy and considerable.  She has served as VASFAA’s treasurer since 2003, our summer conference chair for 7 years, and co-chair for the past year.  She was the recipient of the VASFAA Person of the year in 2001.  She was nominated by the Governor of Vermont to serve on the VSAC Board of Directors as the Financial Aid representative for a term of 7 years.   She served on the EASFAA conference committee 2006 and has volunteered for our College Pathways program for HS juniors since it’s inception in 2003.  In earlier years she organized support staff trainings offered annually in the fall, and presented at regional conferences.  In addition, she is also an active volunteer with her 11 year old son’s school’s and his many athletic endeavors.

    The EASFAA Community congratulates Pam on her selection and we look forward to her increasing involvement in EASFAA.

  • Diane Bonin
    We are proud to recognize Diane Bonin of the New Hampshire Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NHASFAA) and an employee of the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth as EASFAA’s Regional Co-Volunteer for the Month of November.

    Diane Bonin joined the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth in 1998 and began working in financial aid in 1999.  She has recently been named Director of Financial Aid for the business school.  Prior to Tuck, Diane worked for Tufts University in Grafton, Massachusetts and also worked eleven years in corporate administration.

    Diane is an active member of NHASFAA, EASFAA and NASFAA.  She has served on the Graduate and Professional Committee for EASFAA, and the Nominations and Elections Committee and Training Committee for NHASFAA.  Diane has been Training Chair for the past two years.  She holds an Associates Degree from Granite State College and will soon complete her Bachelors degree in Environmentally Sound Entrepreneurship.

    The EASFAA community thanks Diane for her in the financial aid community and we look forward to her finishing her degree and taking an active role in EASFAA in the near future.

  • Andrea Cipolla
    Maryland’s Andrea Cipolla of the University of Baltimore has been chosen as EASFAA’s Regional Co-Volunteer of the Month for October  

    Andrea began her career in financial aid at Penn State as an office assistant in 1989 and moved up to Peer Counselor by her senior year. She returned to financial aid in 1997 after a successful career in the hospitality industry when she accepted a position at University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) as Senior Counselor and VA Coordinator.

    In 2003, she left her Assistant Director position at UMBC for an Assistant Director Position at Catholic University of America – Columbus School of Law in Washington, DC.  She is currently the Associate Director of FA Technology at the University of Baltimore.

    Andrea has been active in DE-DC-MD ASFAA since 1997.  She has presented at and co-hosted the annual Neophyte workshop many times throughout the years as well as other workshops and conferences in the region.  She became a member of the Professional Development & Training committee in 2003 and took over as co-chair in 2005.  She has also agreed to be a trainer for this year's NASFAA fall training series.

    A colleague wrote:  I would like to nominate Andrea Cipolla. She has worked very hard as co-chair of a very demanding committee while juggling increased job responsibilities. I can only dream of being as organized as she is.

    The EASFAA community thanks Andrea for her in the financial aid community and we look forward to you taking an active role in EASFAA in the near future.

  • Mary Dyer
    EASFAA is proud to recognize Maine Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators’ Mary Dyer as Regional Co-Volunteer of the Month for October.

    Mary Dyer is an active member of the Maine Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (MASFAA) and has served as MASFAA Training Chair of the last four years.  In her role as training chair, she has developed and planned many popular training events, such as "Support
    Staff Development Day".  She has also presented at several state and
    regional conferences and has served as a NASFAA trainer.

    Mary has worked in higher education for over 15 years and recently began working at the Finance Authority of Maine as the Default Prevention Specialist, where her goal is to expand default prevention services to schools and students throughout Maine.

    Before joining FAME, Mary served as Assistant Director of Financial Aid at the University of Maine for seven years.  Prior to that, she was Assistant Director of Financial Aid at College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine and also worked at the University of Maine at Augusta.  She received her Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Maine at Augusta.  She resides in Glenburn with her husband and two adorable boys, Cameron and Colby.

    Thank you Mary for your work in the Maine financial aid community and we look forward to you taking an active role in EASFAA in the near future.

  • Susan Gerber
    EASFAA is delighted to recognize Connecticut's Susan Gerber, from Yale University as our Regional Co-Volunteer of the Month for September.

    Susan holds a BS degree from Bryant University and an MBA from the
    University of New Haven.  She began her career 13 years ago at Yale, as an Assistant Director of Undergraduate Financial Aid, she is currently the Director of Student Financial Services Operations.

    Susan has been an active member of CAPFAA for 18 years and has served on CAPFAA’s Training and Winter Conference Committees.

    She is the current Chair of the 2007 Winter Conference Committee
    and has held this position for 2006 as well. Susan has participated in
    CAPFAA financial aid hotline programs for a number of years. She presents at numerous financial aid nights at high schools. She
    also participated in the CAPFAA Guidance counselor Fair. In addition, Susan is a member of the Executive Committee for CAPFAA.

    John Giordano, CAPFAA’s representative to EASFAA Council has known Susan for many years and have worked with her on committees in the past. He views her as the type of person to take charge to make sure the program/project her committee is working on succeeds.

    Thank you Susan for your work in the financial aid community and we look forward to you taking an active role in EASFAA in the near future.

  • Manuel Fernández
    EASFAA is delighted to recognize, Manuel Fernández from Puerto Rico as our Regional Co-Volunteer of the Month for September.

    Mr. Manuel Fernández is the President of Fernández Torres and Associates, Inc., a consulting firm based in Puerto Rico specializing in Title IV financial aid advising, staff training and development, preparation of staff for institutional accreditations and program reviews, and financial aid software development among other services.

    Mr. Fernández has been in the financial aid field as well as a member of the Puerto Rico Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (PRASFAA) and NASFAA for over 30 years.  He has served as a mentor, consultant and trainer to countless current financial aid professionals on the island.  He has been active over the years in PRASFAA in different committees and currently co-chairs the Training Committee.  He is also responsible for developing and donating to PRASFAA the membership database software currently used.

    In 2005, Mr. Fernández was honored with the PRASFAA Lifetime Achievement award for his contributions and service to the financial aid profession in Puerto Rico and to PRASFAA.

    Please join me in thanking Manuel for his work with PRASFAA, we look forward to him becoming active in EASFAA
