Becoming a Leader While Managing an Office
Tue, Oct 16, 2018 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM EDT
In the Enrollment Management world, we are called to be both leaders and managers on a daily basis. Financial Aid professionals, particularly, have a challenging task of leading their offices and campuses in new and changing directions while managing very complex processes. There is a bit of art and science to both managing work and leading people and we will explore of few of the ideas that make our jobs both fun and challenging. We will also dive into how you can expand your leadership circle and work with people at every level of your institution.
Presented by EASFAA Leads: EASFAA Leads is a professional development series meant to enhance the training experience for its members. In its second year of existence, the committee will seek to build on the momentum the inaugural year to provide training for members looking to engage more deeply in their own leadership and professional development journey.
Presenter: Ashley Bianchi
Ashley Bianchi is the Director of Financial Aid at Williams College. In her first year, Ashley is examining the wonderful aspects of the Williams financial aid program and how they intersect with other areas of campus. Bianchi is also seeking to address any challenges identified by listening to all community members and understanding where gaps may exist. Prior to Ashley joining Williams in August 2018, she served as the Director of Financial Aid at Lafayette College in Pennsylvania for five year where she worked closely within the enrollment division to increase socioeconomic diversity, reduce loan indebtedness, address the hidden costs of college, and support students from underrepresented backgrounds. She served as a voice and advocate for undocumented/DACA students and was an inaugural member of the Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment (SASH) intervention team. Ashley has also worked at Rhodes College and College of Charleston in a financial aid capacity.
Ashley is professionally involved at the regional and national levels at the College Board and she serves on the executive council of the Eastern Association of Financial Aid Administrators (EASFAA) as well as various committees for National Association of Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA).
Ashley received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Counselor Education from Mississippi State University and her Masters of Education Degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of South Carolina. She has been married for 13 years and has a 9 year old son, Ward. In Williamstown, the Bianchi family is often seen strolling down Spring Street or taking in an athletic event of some sort!
